The van gift shop

The van gift shop

In the Belgian magazine Knack Weekend you read about my favourite webshops and if I really have to chose one thing out of all the lovely stuff they provide, than it is this one: “20 hangers” by the young designer Alice Rosignoli, you can buy it at The Van gift webshop, or at Alice Rosignoli’s own website.

A simple lamp

Muuto is a new Scandinavian brand with a wonderful collection, one of their absolute bestsellers is this lamp called E27 which is available from  € 59, which is also wonderful, isn’t it?

Muuto is available in the nicest shops, e.g. Espoo in Antwerp and Diito in Brussels. www.muuto.com

Marimekko classic

Marimekko classic

I had a wonderful time at Maison & Objet, the interior decoration fair in Paris, last Friday. On the press cd of Marimekko I discovered this image with one of the most classic Marimekko tablecloths, for Belgian sales points, see www.marimekko.com. Retail price for this tissue: € 36/ m, also available in what we call ‘toile cirée’, € 39/m. All the tableware is also from Marimekko.

New online store: rougenoir.be

New online store: rougenoir.be

Interior decorator Jolien Opsomer launches her own webshop selling only red, black and white interior stuff: “These colours always look nice,” she comments. And she is right.

Among the top brands are Normann Copenhagen (see earlier post ‘Probably the best designstore in the world’) but these food containers in red, black and white illustrate this post perfectly. Enjoy your shopping at www.rougenoir.be

I partcularly like this lamp made out of the insides of an old washing machine, €120.

Balls of fire

Balls of fire

On Saturday a shop opened in the historical heart of Antwerp (next to the Witzli Putzli) where you can create your own garland of lamps with little cotton balls. You can choose between three lengths (from around 20 tot 50 euro’s). You can also create your own versions on line, a fun thing to do with kids. www.happylights.be [read more]

Haus am Rhein

Haus am Rhein

There is a new reason to visit the Vitra Design Museum at Weil-am-Rhein: a ‘Haus’ by Herzog & De Meuron. Since a couple of years Vitra invited important architects for all their buildings (production facilities, seminar building, … ). When you visit their design museum, you can also book for an architectural tour and visit in about an hour buildings of – to name but a few – Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando, Buckminster Fuller, Jean Prouvé (a bus station, but a fabulous one) and Zaha Hadid (her very first building ever). This makes the Vitra Design Museum a fun stop on the way to and from Italy. [read more]

The original factory lamp

The original factory lamp

If I needed a lamp now, I would order this one online at www.manufactum.de. This model ‘Bolich Hängeleuchte’ already exists since about 100 years and is the typical ‘factory light’, which is very popular right now. Price 118 Euro.
