Pinterest board Salone del Mobile 2014

On the pinterest link underneath you find my personal and utterly unprofessional pictures of the Salone del Mobile last week. Don’t miss my comments, they might be helpful in understanding why I chose to pin the pictures.

The picture here was taken at the exhibition of Wallpaper’s Handmade exhibition in the new Milano hotspot area of Docet, where Kvadrat and Droog where also showing. All three were must sees. Enjoy my board and if you want to share it, no problem.

Drawing rooms and periwinkles

Drawing rooms and periwinkles

My new column in Actief Wonen is out today. About the wonderful book “At home” by Bill Bryson, the thought that in English the word for that little table is “coffee table”, while the English are tea drinkers and about the comeback of the periwinkle.

Hollywood style in Brussels

Hollywood style in Brussels

I believe this weekend the first European store of Ethan Allen opens in Brussels. Since this is my personal blog I can use it to vent my opinion about it. We’ve got nothing to learn from US retail-home-stores, sorry if I have offended anyone, but I recommend the whole staff of Ethan Allen to spend some days in the streets of Gent, Antwerp, Knokke or Brussels and have a thorough look at stores and collections of Belgian home brands to understand that this collection is only interesting for expats.

Sleeping around

Sleeping around

One of the best business names I came across recently is ‘Sleeping around’. A couple of Antwerp entrepreneurs bought a number of old freight containers and then recycled them into a luxurious moveable B&B. Short interview in the magazine Absoluut, www.absoluutmagazine.be

Neon colours stay

Neon colours stay

In a small press preview in Brussels yesterday I had the opportunity to see the shoe collection by Avril Gau for SS 2013 in the La Redoute catalogue. Fun shoes by a former employee of – my favourite – Robert Clergerie.

I did not expect this, but in coming Summer and Spring all the neon colours that haven been hot since about a year now, are here to stay.
